Happy Halloween Everybody!!

Have a fun and safe one!!!

img_0020.jpg

First of all excuse the pics-m camera has totally given up, i can’t squeeze anything out of it.  had to use hubby’s laptop camera.

Gosh where do i start.
So about a month ago i mentioned Shrinky Dinks. New friend and fellow blogger, Joanna, said they don’t have those in Poland. OH the Shame!!!! so i asked her if she would be interested in some. She was very happy for the offer and said Yes! we would do a swap.
So the shopping and Fun started. i forgot to take a picture of my pakage but i sent her some goodies, Shrinky Dink being one of them. Can’t tell the rest because she hasn’t gotten her package yet.
BUT TODAY I GOT MINE!! What a wonderful surprise! And She SPOILED ME!!!!

Wrapped up in cool retro paper!

Was all this!!

Presents from Joanna, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

(ETA: click on the pick to go to flickr and see the notes on the items, since the pic does not show it all clearly)

I love all my goodies, i can’t wait to start knitting with the yarn and i have a petal bath planned for this weekend. But the best is yet to come! What? There is better than that? And there is. Joanna is an artist. (Buy here & see on her blog) I have been reading about her work and progress since she started posting about it and have fallen in love with her work. (Can you guess where this is going?) She made a picture just for me!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I LOVE IT!!!!!

mypicture1.jpg

It’s called “Knitting Girl” for me a knitting girl :) The other thing i like is the sheet music she used. i’m a big fan of classical music and i used to play the Violin when i was in school. So it combines 2 things in my life! Go buy some of her art-before i buy it all :)

Thank You so much Joanna!!! I love everything and i hope that United States Mail will get my package to you quickly!!!

ETA 2: progress on vest.

Change, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

With the current humidity-i can’t get my hair anywhere close to looking this good!!!! EVEN with Humidity cream :( i need a stylist lol
Oh well, extra time in in bed, that’s always a plus.

So, some good news. We found a new camera and it’s going to cost 107 dollars :) That makes me happy. But it also means that i can’t start this yet because i am going to have to spend more on yarn then planned. I wasn’t getting guage with the yarn i had originally wanted to use. phooey!

What am i knitting?
My So Called Scarf
Cardigan
A vest that i am designing as i go for Little Man, i really like how it is coming along. My goal is to have it finished by Monday. Little Man is getting pictures done and i would like him to wear some handknit goodness.
Hopefully pictures soon!
Have a great night!

Well I spent most of the day resting and drinking tea and i feel much better today-Just as i hoped the cold passed quickly. Yay!

So i was catching up on my blog rading today and Karen had a book meme.  You have to open the book you’re currently reading to page 161 and read the fifth sentence on the page, then think of 5 bloggers to tag.  I am currently reading 3 books.

Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold: “repairing the most basic fabric of their previous day-to-day lives, challenging his injury to take a moment like this back, my father became my hero.”

A Million Little Pieces by James Frey: “There is acid, snot and spit.  There is blood.  Streams of blood.”

Knitting America by Susan M. Strawn: ” There were also pattern books for babies, among them Lacey’s Baby Book, the Doreen Baby Book by Nell Armstrong, and the Jack Frost Baby Book.”

So i am supposed to Tag 5 people BUT I would rather just let you guys choose if you want to do it or not. Let me know if you do.

So last week as our Anniversay and Hubby ordered me some books i asked for :) . I got them in the mail yesterday.  Knitting America which i mentioned above.  What a beautiful book-just the old pictures alone with out the story ar great to look at. I love seeing items from the past and hearing about them or how they were used and imagining people doing or using something.  The other book was A Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker.  And most knitters out there know how great her pattern books are.  I borrowed the Second Treasury from the library and instantly knew i must have them! So 1 down 3 more to go–Christmas is Coming yay!! I already let hubby know that if he needs a gift idea-that is a great one :)

Well Little Man wants to play stickers so off i go! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!

Calorimetry on, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

Yep-i joined the crowd and made one. Started it last night on a whim and finished it today. You can totally knit this in an evening and a quick knit like that makes me very happy.
Pattern:Calorimetry from Knitty.com
Yarn: Gedifra Fashion Stripe (a extra skein my grandma sent from Germany that she had left over)
Needles-Size 8 16 inch Circs
Mods-i have heard that this runs large as written so i cast on 100 sts instead of 120-but i still worked the repeats as written.

dscf0712.jpg
Sorry about the crappy pics but they are the only two i could manage to squeeze out. See the slight annoyance on my face-not so nice, i tried to retake with a smile but i am sure you know what happened :) Bzzzpppp!!
I talked to hubby about the camera today and tomorrow he is going to go online and see if there are any good deals-if not we might just take my old advantix film camera on our vacation. Which means the pictures may be few around here but i do not give in easily i will try to squeeze out every last picture my camera has. : D

And you were all so sweet to wish me the best for Little Man and hope i wouldn’t get sick. Inevitably i have the runny nose tonight while Little Man is feeling much better. His cold did not seem that bad though and passed really quickly so i am hoping for the same.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

another purse, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

I made another Purse. i am quite disappointed in it. I was expecting more from my second purse and instead i got less. Now you may be thinking “It look fine” but it doesn’t. The lining is a little baggy, the strap was connected messily, SOMEHOW i totally missed the white label on the side of my fabric that says “Made Exclusively for Joann” AND it ended up on the front of the purse. My first on was way better-i should have stopped while i was ahead. BLAH

Little Man has a another cold :( so after getting sneezed on again and this time yelling to cover his mouth and nose i am sure to be covered in germs. i can only hope the Tea and Airborne i have been taking all day are helping. I hate the cold season. Tune back in in Spring and Summer i will be back to whine about allergies.

Finally my camera. Boy is it pissin me off!! Last Saturday we went to the fire station for an Open House. They had lunch, a smoke house demonstration, balloons, face painting, and a fake house with fake flames the kids could shoot the fire hose at. Anyway back to the point, Little Man got Sponge Bob on his face. As soon as we got home he decided it must come off. I wanted to take a picture before we washed it off so i hurried and got the camera. Turned it on, focused was just about to push the button and Bzzzp it turned off. I turned it back on again….Bzzzzpp it turned off. Okay i thought, battery must be dead. Got new batteries, turned it on…Bzzzpp it turned back off. I tried 2 more sets of batteries and finally i got a shot of his cheek.
It worked for 2 days i think and then Bzzzpp it turned off again and it was always right when i had aimed and was ready to take the shot. Like it Knew. Stupid camera. I left it alone and later it was fin again. Next day it was fine-Tuesday for Robot’s first attempt at pics i got the bad couch shot but then Little Man wanted to have his picture with Robot-Yep you guessed it–I aimed and BBZZZPPPP it turned itself off. 2 hours later was working fine. Today i wanted a picture of my purse–Have you figured out the pattern yet? Aimed and Bzzzzppp!!!!!!!!
ARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID F——-n CAMERA. A few hours later it was fine. WHY? WHY? WHY? Does my camera not know that we are poor right now, we are saving for a big trip. Does my camera not realize this is a bad time to be falling apart!! i have looked online and apparently i am the only one with a stupid camera that does this. either that or people just figured that their camera was dying and got a new one OR the got new ones before theirs showed this bad bad camera illness.
okay okay I will admit my camera is about 4 and half years old but that shouldn’t matter-i just need him to last a few more months. i emailed the site and also found a camera repair place in the area so depending on what the camera site tells me back i am going to look into possibly fixing him-if it is even fixable. LOL you know as mad as it makes me i just have to laugh-things always fall apart at important moments.
Okay i am done whining. Trust me i know these are petty things to whine about and there are bigger problems out there in the world but it’s on my mind and bothering me and talking about it feels good so thanx for reading my whining :) :)

On a happier note-i am coming close to finishing my cardigan-i cast off on the body last night and started an arm today.
After this i am going to do a swatch for THISso i can buy some yarn tomorrow at the craft store. We didn’t go today since Little Man was sick. Which was quite nice-all we did was lay around. I don’t think i am going to make it as long as in the picture but we’ll see as it progresses.
Have a Great Night!

dscf0709.JPG

I LOVE HIM!!!!!  He turned out so much better then i thought he would.  i piked out a lot of patterned fabric and i was worried it would look like too much. BUT LOOK AT HIM :) :)   He is so happy and bright and colorful.  He still needs a control panal but i just don’t know what yet. i want to make my own instead of from the pattern book.  I like the ones in the book but they are just not what i think i want for him.

But he is from Wee Wonderfuls Put-Together Book 2.  I made Spaceboy from there too for Little Man cause he is into space and rocket ships but he never played with it much so i think it will be going in this years pre-christmas donation clean out of his room.  She has other great pattern books and they are great for my sewing spurts :)

That’s all i got today but i am workin on trying to finish my cardigan HOPEFULLY some pics by this weekend.

I am going to the book store and Joann’s tomorrow while Little Man is in school-just relaxing for an hour or so until i have to pick him up.  I hope they have the new Interweave Holiday Gifts 2007. I saw it at the book store recently but i wanted to wait to use my coupon at Joann.  A girl’s gotta save money where she can on her Habit. :)

Have a great Night, Morning, Afternoon or Evening ;) depending on when you read this.

Well sorry guys but no pics of my super cute robot friend.  I did take some but they turned out super crappy so i will redo tomorrow.  Poor guy-he wanted so badly to show himself to you guys-but his smile his so big he just can’t help but be still be happy. Tomorrow we will try again.

I am posting much later than planned too. I can feel Mr. Sandman calling to me.

I am happy to say Hubby really liked his socks and they fit Perfect!!  Even though the surprise factor had been ruined he was still really happy that i had made them after i had said many times i would never knit for him again. Thanx for the Anniversary wishes.

Tommorrow i am going to get a flu shot-i have never had one before and i am still having mixed feelings about getting it.  I grew up in a house where medicine was not used. And i am still like that a lot but i cheat a little and take Nyquil at night, nothing during the day though and honestly half the time i do take something it doesn’t help anyway.  But i guess this year since Aidan is in school i am thinking he got his shot but if he brings it home from school-he will be protected but i won’t and then i will be worthless & suffering in bed LOL i milk it when i get sick-lots of TV and bed.  ANYWAY off topic-i still have mixed feelings but we’ll see what happens. I tend to get a lot of colds in the winter but flu not so much or mild cases.  Something else just came to me-we will be flying to Germany in a month and a half (Eeeeeee! so happy and nervous) and you know airplanes are just super breeding and spreading ground for that stuff-they don’t stop someone from getting on the plane if they are sick. I don’t want to spend what little precious time i will have there being sick-there is so much we want to do and so many people i want to see.  I mean my grandpa over there still hasn’t met Little Man in person. well anyway i am babbling.  i am sure everything will be fine.

So more interesting stuff tomorrow.

Good night. (Good Morning by the time you read this probably :)

Hubby’s Anniversary Socks, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

WOOHOO finished!!!!
i finished the grafting of the toe last night-knitting was finished on Saturday nite but since hubby had the weekend off i had to little time to knit in secret.
I am really happy with the way these turned out and i hope he likes them and that they fit.
They are a very basic pattern and from what i have seen onine and Ravelry a very popular pattern.
I didn’t have any problems after i restarted with less stitches and got help with the heel.
Knit Notes:
Pattern: Garter Rib Stitch from Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn:Louet Gems in Sandalwood-just a tad over 2 skeins for 11 1/4 inches size feet on size 2 needles.
I will let you know how they are received-Tomorrow is Anniversary day-He better like them!!!!!

I started My So Called Scarf and i really like how it’s turning out with the Ironstone yarn.

dscf0705.JPG

I finished the sewing my Robot friend but he still needs eyes, mouth and his control panel. i will have a pic tomorrow with eyes and mouth but control panel won’t be done right away. I am not sure what kind of panal i want to give him.

Well, off to write a letter. Wish me luck on how hubby likes the socks and that they fit. (not a big deal if they don’t i can fix BUT i don’t want to lol)
Good night you guys

p.s. thanx for the compliments on my hallowig :)

Little Man in Hallowig, originally uploaded by Craftydiddl.

My Hallowig is all done!!
I made it with Red Heart yarn, followed the pattern and had fun.
Took me about a week but as usual it was one of many projects.
If i made this again i would make the bangs and maybe the hair longer. But i love how it looks on Little Man :)

dscf06971.JPG

I have all my robot pieces together and ironed so next is sewing the front and back together.

dscf0693.JPG

I made cookies today from a recipe i found on This Blog. They are DELISH!!!!!!!!! i love them!! I insist you guys make them-well okay only if they sound like they might appeal to you as well.

So what’s next? HUBBY”S SOCKS!!! i must finish the rest of the last pair. He has been off since Friday so i haven’t been able to work on them. I must get them done this week. Next tuesday is our Anniversary.
We have some cooler weather coming so i want to finish that cardigan that has been moping in my knitting bag, whispering and wondering when it can come back out and be finished.
Then some scarf knitting for me and grandma and a vest for Little Man. Ohhh there is so much i want to do.
I think i may have found a pattern for my Ironstone yarn. This One.
I might have to cast on a few less sts so i can try and keep the length on my scarf since Ironstone has less yardage then the yarn used in the pattern.
Off to do some sock knitting!!
Good Night Friends!
